The Crosstrek lineup offers two impressive Subaru boxer engine options. The boxer engine utilizes horizontally opposed pistons, allowing it to be positioned lower in the engine bay, which in turn results in a lower center of gravity and increased stability.

The Crosstrek lineup features a standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine on the Base model only. It produces 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. All the other Crosstrek models have a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 182 horsepower. The Honda HR-V models all use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 158 horsepower.
