Performance
The Subaru Outback has two flat four-cylinder engines to choose from. The first one is a 2.5-liter standard engine producing 182 horsepower, while the other one is an optional 2.4-liter turbocharged engine making 260 horsepower. Each is paired with a lineartronic continuously variable automatic transmission to reduce the engine drone. The turbocharged version has a remarkable acceleration that provides exhilaration on demand.
Standard all-wheel-drive can navigate in a variety of terrains, including twisted and rough roads. The accuracy of the steering helps you to manage the model on the highway. The new Outback has a maximum towing capacity of 2,700 pounds with the standard powertrain and 3,500 pounds with the turbocharged engine.
The EPA estimated rating on the base engine is 27 MPG in the city and 35 MPG on the highway. The estimated rating on the turbocharged option is 24 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway.
Interior
The Outback designers have used quality material in the cabin. The Outback has a dual-zone climate power-adjustable driver's seat, copious USB ports, and available heated front seats for the vehicle occupants' comfort. The top trim levels have a power-adjustable front passenger seat, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and ventilated front seats. The back seats have 1.4-inch legroom, which is spacious compared to the previous model. The cargo area space is 33 cubic feet that can hold 11 carry-on suitcases. Folding of the rear seats creates space for 12 more bags.
Infotainment System
All models in the Outback lineup have an 11.6-inch touchscreen except the two stacked seven-inch touchscreens on the base outback. Outback has a large touch icon and responds quickly. The Outback has climate setting, rotary buttons, and tuning knobs that are easy to use. It also has built-in navigation, optional wireless device charging, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The touring and the limited trim level have a 12-speaker Harman Kardon® audio system with 576 watts.
