Comparing the 2022 Subaru Legacy to the New Nissan Altima in Atlanta, GA

The Subaru Legacy is a top-tier choice in sedans, with more space, more efficiency, and more precision than other similarly-sized cars of its class. As a Subaru model, the new Legacy has a lot of long-term value and carries high ratings for its safety. We want to show you all the best features of the 2022 Legacy at Classic Subaru of Atlanta, so we compared it to another well-known midsize sedan, the 2022 Nissan Altima. Let us share with you our findings so you can decide if this car is right for you. The new Subaru Legacy is available for purchase or lease in Atlanta, GA.

Engine/Performance

The right sedan for your needs ought to generate the right mixture of excitement and peace of mind with its performance. The standard horizontally-constructed BOXER engine of the Subaru Legacy does just that- it provides incredible performance with plenty of real-world fuel efficiency. The Legacy holds up to 18.5 gallons of fuel in its tank and its engine enables this sedan to travel up to 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. The standard inline four-cylinder engine of the Altima is shared in its design with many other sedans and does not achieve the same efficiency as the uniquely-constructed BOXER engine. The Altima also only holds up to 16 gallons of fuel.

Another key performance advantage the Subaru Legacy has to offer is its drivetrain. Like most new Subaru models, the Legacy comes fully standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive, giving you the best grip on the road in any weather, in addition to better handling. The Nissan Altima is also one of few sedans to offer AWD, but this drivetrain costs extra to add to most trims and is completely unavailable on the Altima's base trim. Only the highest, priciest Altima trim comes standard with AWD.

Interior

If you're looking for the roomier sedan choice for taking the kids to school in Atlanta, then the Legacy is a great choice for you! This midsize sedan contains about as much passenger volume as a small SUV with up to 105.5 cubic feet on the inside. The Nissan Altima's base trims contain a passenger volume of 100.8 cubic feet, which is cut even further short with the addition if its available power sunroof. Both sedans are equally matched in trunk space.

Safety

While both sedans come loaded with a wider selection of high-tech conveniences than many of their competitors, the Legacy goes a few steps further in the number of standard features it must keep you safe and protected from collisions. Each Legacy trim comes standard with EyeSight Driver-Assist Features including Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering and a Rear Seat Reminder. For added safety during nighttime driving, the Legacy comes standard with LED Steering Responsive Headlights.

Through the Nissan Safety Shield 360, the Altima comes standard with several driver-assist features comparable to those of EyeSight. However, Nissan's comparable adaptive cruise control system is unavailable on the base trim levels and costs extra to be added. Likewise, the Altima comes standard with the less-energy-efficient halogen front bulbs, with LED bulbs available on higher trims.

Technology

The Legacy has a lot of other features to help you out along your journey, in addition to the ones that keep you safe. The available All-Weather Package is available on most Legacy trims and adds a windshield wiper de-icer onto this sedan to help in extreme snow of freezing rain. The Legacy also comes standard with automatic climate control and LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), which are available on select trims of the Altima. The Altima does not have a comparable feature to the windshield wiper de-icer.
